My summer commission at The renowned Grail Springs Spa and Resort in Bancroft, Ontario was to paint a 22 foot Teepee. A new experience for me. Using my knowledge of traditional aboriginal imagery I created stencils to apply to the teepee canvas and used faux techniques to create deerskin imagery. Working with Grail Springs Owner and CEO Madeleine Marentette on the design concept gave me direction towards the finished project. Despite the challenges of the weather, heat and rain, after 10 days I completed the Sacred Teepee in time for the Grail Springs Annual Lady Faire. I returned in August to paint the floor and liner. I was fortunate to be assisted by Richard Capener when it came to directional placement of the teepee. I was honored to be part of this sacred addition to Grail Springs.
